Starting tonight's review with the Top Scorer table. By this stage of the competition, there is usually a player that is starting to make a break from the rest in the top scorers chart, but this year we have Higuain and Vittek on a mere 4 goals each. Then we have 6 players on 3 goals. Of this top 8, two are already on a plane home. Personally I am hoping that Fabiano can produce a few more goals in the quarter final against Holland. Very very tight though, and you can keep an eye on the top scorers from our world cup menu at www.footypredict.co.uk
Holland and Brazil did as expected today and progressed through to the Quarters, sending Slovakia and Chile for an early shower. Tuesday brings us Paraguay V Japan and Spain V Portugal. These are 2 closely matched sets of teams and predicting these two could be the most difficult yet. Maybe we'll have our first penalty shoot-out of the tournament. Remember that if we do get to extra time and penalties that we take the score at the end of the game (120 mins) and prior to penalties.
Animal reigns supreme at the top and looks unstoppable, but one or 2 dodgy predictions and he could sink like a stone. Good work Animal, an impressive show so far!
Well done to all our high climbers this week, they are....
I hope to be able to announce the prizes in the next couple of days, when I have worked out the split of the funds over the top places.
Dossers quiz is still going over at the World Cup menu on the www.footypredict.co.uk website, and I must admit to having some time out for to research the answers. Some quite tough questions in there, so if you haven't had a go yet, try the latest questions and get on that High Score table. I really appreciate the hard work that Dosseronthetrasvaal has put into this quiz. Well done mate!
So onto day 19 we go and the last 2 games in the round of 16!
