World Cup - Winners!

They think it's all over! It is now!

The FIFA World Cup 2010 is complete and Spain are Champions!

In our league, it finished like this....

WK has shown his supremacy right up to the final whistle in the final game with another 10 points to add to his total! What a great effort and a well deserved winner of our £100 prize.

In 2nd place, Lano23 takes the £75 prize after a nice jump up with Spain winning the final. Well done Lano23 and I am delighted that you are a winner as you join the Footypredict team for the forthcoming season.

3rd place goes to the person who had the lead for 90% of the tournament, Animal. I thought you had this one in the bag, but your long reign came to and end last week. A pat on the back and our £50 prize to say well done for your persistence at the top for so long.

4th and £30 goes to Alcolusa, again one of the new members of the Footypredict team. Well done mate!

5th place was Limeymick who has done consistently well and picks up our £25 prize.

6th goes to Toothrot and £15 on the way to you. Toothrot was just outside the prizes prior to tonights game and got 10 points tonight to be in the money.

7th and £10 goes to Athletico Nosogood, who turned out to be nosobad.

8th, 9th and 10th were Prince Harry, .strev87 and Dosseronthetransvaal all pick up £5.

In our Top Scorer/Winning Team competition sponsored by www.xtensive.co.uk, the winners will be those who chose Spain and David Villa. Although Mueller was the Golden Boot Winner, nobody had Mueller, so it drops back to 2nd place where David Villa sits in the rankings,

World Cup - Day 24

The penultimate game of the 2010 World Cup is now complete and we look forward to the final with baited breath.

Uruguay gave Germany a run for their money tonight, but Germany confirmed their 3rd place yet again. During the game, Diego Forlan managed to go joint equal at the top of the Top Scorer Table.

Statistically, Holland have the best run of results to the final, but the Paul theOctupus has chosen Spain, so who are we to doubt that.

There wasn't any significant move (that I noticed) in the league tonight, but there are still 10 points to be had in the final, so choose very carefully and you could be in for one of the prizes on Sunday night.

World Cup - Day 23

WK has 1-0 to Spain and 8 points, Animal has 1-0 to Germany and zero points. We have a new leader!

Congratulations to WK for taking/borrowing the crown from Animal.

There are still 2 games to go, so plenty of time for Animal to go back to the top, WK to get even further ahead, or someone totally different to surf the dizzy heights. Remember there are 4 bonus points for a correct score in the last 2 games.

Tonights game relegated Germany to the 3rd/4th place play-off with Uruguay and Spain join Holland in the Grand Final on Sunday.

Villa, Sneijder and Robben look like the 3 players that are fighting it out for the golden boot, unless we have a goalfest in the final.

We have another break for a couple of days, so please make sure you predict for the last 2 games.

I hope you have enjoyed the tournament so far and you may be interested to know that here at www.footypredict.co.uk we run 3 leagues during the normal football season. These leagues are SPL, Premier League and a Cup Crazy League. The latter of these covering the Champions League, Europa League, Scottish Cup and FA Cup. World Cup - Day 22

A cracking game started and completed day 22 and some of the best goals in the competition so far.

Holland came through victorious to get to their first final in 32 years, whilst Uruguay bowed out gracefully.

We await tomorrow night's game to see whether it will be Spain or Germany that meet Holland in the Final.

Closer to home, Animal still dominates the prediction league and short of a major disaster in the last 3 games, looks a dead cert to win.

Anyone in the top 11 can statistically still win 1st place and anyone in the top 44 can statistically still win a prize, so keep doing your predictions and you never know what could happen by Sunday night.

The top scorer table still has David Villa at the top, although Wesley Sneijder now equals the 5 goals that Villa has scored. Villa leads as he has played for less minutes, but will catch up tomorrow night and probably score a few too.

Roll on the other Semi and who will be in the final.....?

World Cup - Day 21

Apologies for no update on Friday, but I was at a wedding and didn't get back till the early hours.

Since the last update, Brazil, Argentina, Ghana and Paraguay have all parted company with the competition. The Semi-Finalists are Germany, Uruguay, Holland and Spain.

We have 4 games to go and they are going to be played Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday.

Animal is still ahead, but his lead has been reduced to only 7 points. WK has pushed up to 2nd place and Alcolusa has slipped back to 3rd. The highest climber over the Quarter-Finals stage was Double Dutch and an amazing 16 people correctly predicted that Spain would win 1-0.

In the top scorer table, David Villa of Spain has taken a clear lead on 5 goals, see more details on our Top Scorer table on the website.
